Welcome!

Real theater. Really funny stories. For real people.
Bard and Fool Theater Group believes that theater doesn’t have to be stuffy or boring. It can be fun! That’s why we’re dedicated to producing scripted comedies with our audience’s enjoyment of the show always at the forefront of our minds.

Online fundraising has launched - 101 Ways to…Fall in Love‏

Bard and Fool Theater Group is excited to announce our new show “101 Ways to…Fall in Love” by Jason B. Williams and Noelle A. Schmitt.

Over the last year, we polled our audience and asked them three questions about their real life love story: Where did you meet? When did you know he/she was the one? Where are you now? You won’t believe some of the stories we received! Would you like to hear them? In this show, all 101 true love stories will be re-told by Andy, a depressed writer going through a divorce.

We need you help again to help make this show a reality.

Below is a link where you can make a financial contribution to the production. Your contributions will help pay for advertising, costumes, and rehearsal space. Your contributions are a great way to give back to community*.

Bard and Fool is looking for an original script for our Fall show

Attention playwrights: Do you have a comedy script you’d like to see produced? We’re Bard and Fool Theater Group and we’re looking for an original work to produce in the fall of 2014. We’re hoping it’s yours!

The show we’re looking for currently has only two criteria: First, it will be a fully developed one or two act scripted comedy (no sketches please). Second, it will also be producible in a storefront theater. That's it! The rest is up to you, the author.

Bard and Fool Theater Group is a storefront theater company located in Chicago, IL. We’ve done several well received productions since being founded in March of 2012. Our current production is called “101 Ways to...Fall in Love” by Jason B. Williams and Noelle A. Schmitt. It features 101 TRUE love stories as told by Andy, a depressed writer going through a divorce.

Our ensemble is a mix of seasoned veterans and fresh young talent who all believe in our mission statement: Theater doesn’t have to be stuffy or boring; it can be fun! That’s why we’re dedicated to producing scripted comedies with our audience’s enjoyment always at the forefront of our mind.

Currently, we cannot offer financial compensation for the rights to the original work. (This means that you as author get to retain the rights to your script). However, if we choose your script, we produce the play thereby giving you the opportunity to get your show reviewed.

If this sounds like a production company you would like to work with, then please send your writing resume, a synopsis of your play, character breakdown, and a sample of the script to Doug at bardandfool@gmail.com by Friday, May 2nd. Please put “Original Script” in the subject line.
